LAHORE: The top leadership of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz PML-N on Monday devised a future strategy, as most of leaders have viewed that party should adopt the approach of reconciliation.
Chaired by PML-N President Nawaz Sharif at his Jati Umra residence, the significant meeting of the ruling party was attended by Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq among other senior leaders.
Sources said that a division within the party was noticeable, with some members advocating politics of resistance while others including PM Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal, and Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif stressing that the party should adopt the approach of reconciliation.
The political situation of the country and the party’s plan of action for the next general elections was discussed at the meeting. Attendees agreed on timely elections and decided to create the election cell to prepare for the polling with full fervour. The party also decided that the 'minus-Nawaz' formula was unacceptable under any circumstances, sources said.
