LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has suspended a notification by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and allowed the parliamentarians to take part in election campaign of other electoral candidates.
ECP had through a notification barred the law makers from participating in election campaigns of other electoral candidates.
PTI leader shoaib Siddiqui petition seeking annulment of ban orders on parliamentarians for running election campaign came up for hearing before LHC Wednesday.
The court admitted the petition for preliminary hearing ruling that law makers are allowed to take part in electioneering. Both the MNAs and MPAs are allowed to run election campaign on this count.
The court issued notices to the parties concerned and directed them to appear before it on next hearing.
EC through a notification had barred members of assembly from running election campaign and PTI had challenged it in LHC.
Imran Khan, PTI chief will now be able to campaign for his party candidates in by polls at NA-122 Lahore and NA-154 Lodhran.
