ISLAMABAD: The governments of Pakistan and India exchanged their list of prisoners on Monday, stated a press statement issued by the foreign ministry.
According to the list, a total of 457 Indian prisoners are currently held in Pakistani jails as opposed to 386 Pakistani prisoners being held in India.
The list included 399 fishermen and 58 civil prisoners.
In line with spokesperson of foreign office list of 457 Indian prisoners was handed over to Indian High Commissioner here in Islamabad while the list of Pakistani prisoners in Indian jails will be handed over to Pakistan High Commissioner in New Delhi.
Foreign officer spokesperson said that under the mutual agreement both countries are bond to exchange prisoner list twice a year.
Pakistan released 146 Indian prisoners on good will gesture on January 8, spokesperson added.
