ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Mian Saqib Nisar have expressed grief and sorrow over the demise of renowned lawyer and former President of Supreme Court Bar Association Ms. Asma Jahangir.
In his condolence message, the Prime Minister has lauded her immense contributions towards upholding rule of law , democracy and safeguarding human rights. The Prime Minister termed her demise as a great loss for legal fraternity. He prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and for the courage of the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss with fortitude.
Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, and all the judges of the Supreme Court and Registrar have also expressed their deep sorrow and grief on the sudden demise of Ms Asma Jahangir, Senior Advocate Supreme Court of Pakistan.They have extended their heartfelt condolences and sincere sympathies to members of aggrieved family of departed soul, said a statement issued here on Sunday by the Supreme Court of Pakistan.The Chief Justice and Judges of the Superior Court praised the services of Ms. Asma Jahangir rendered for cause of independence of judiciary, rule of law and supremacy of constitution in the country.
In their condolence message, they said that her services will always be remembered in good words in judicial history of the country. They said she was an outspoken and courageous lady, and had risen to prominence by sheer dint of hard work, diligence and commitment to the legal profession. They prayed to Almighty Allah to shower His blessings upon the departed soul and to give patience to the bereaved family members to bear this irreparable loss with equanimity.
