ISLAMABAD: Cold wave has gripped most parts of the country after rain in various cities and snowfall in hilly areas.

Rain started in Lahore late night which intensified during the morning, taking the temperature further down. Muzaffargarh, Bahawalpur, Deepalpur, Kasur, Pindi Bhattian, Mianwali, Shahkot, Arifwala, Bhakkar, Gojra and other parts of Punjab also received rain.
The downpour significantly dropped the temperature following the rainfall in various localities of Lahore city including Iqbal Town, Allama Iqbal Town, Faisal Town, Model Town, Jail Road, Canal Road and Gulberg.

Rain was also reported in Sehwan, Larkana and other areas in Sindh. On the other hand, rain, snowfall in Dir and upper parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa turned weather chilly.
Rain and snowfall in most parts of Balochistan including Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Qila Saifullah, Chaghi, Khuzdar, Zohb and Kalat increased the intensity of cold.

According to Pakistan Meteorologist Department (PMD), the city is likely to receive more rainfall for next 24 hours.

“A westerly wave is affecting western parts of the country and likely to grip upper and central parts of the country during Sunday and may persist till Monday,” the Met department said.

The PMD has also forecast rain-thunderstorm with snowfall over the hills at scattered places in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, FATA, upper Punjab (Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Lahore divisions), Islamabad, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, besides at isolated places in Quetta, Zhob, D.G.Khan, Multan, Sahiwal and Bahawalpur divisions.
