ISLAMABAD: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Monday rejected nomination papers of ex-Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar for Senate polls.
Dar, who is currently in London and under treatment had appointed a representative to submit his nomination papers in his absence. Upon this, Pakistan Tehrik Insaaf (PTI) through its legal expert challenging nomination papers of Ishaq Dar, adopted the stance that signature on the Ishaq Dar’s nomination papers are fake and NAB court has also declared him as proclaimed so Ishaq Dar does not meet the criteria of Sadiq and Amin.
Other candidates whom candidates were rejected include, Bilal Butt, Hafiz Abdul Karim and Sarfraz Shirazi. The ECP approved nomination papers of Sadia Abbasi, sister of Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Federal Minister Kamran Michael, ex-IG Sindh Rana Maqbool, former Governor Punjab Chaudhry Sarwar and other candidates. Nomination papers of eighteen candidates were approved. PTI candidate, Andleeb Abbas, PML-Q Kamil Ali Agha and other candidates Zubair Gull, Khalid Shaheen Butt and others were accepted.
