ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif says that Pakistan has rendered invaluable sacrifices in war against terrorism and Operation Zarb e Azb is yielding very positive and fruitful results.
He was talking to Secretary Supreme National Security Council of Iran Rear Admiral Ali Shamkhani who called on him in Islamabad on Thursday.
The two sides expressed grief and sorrow with each other over the tragic incidence of Mina in which citizens of both countries passed away.
The Prime Minster said that Pakistan and Iran are brotherly countries and share deep historic and cultural ties. He added that Chabahar and Gawadar ports shall be sister ports and their operational activity shall complement each other.
The Iranian National Security Secretary said that terrorism has no boundaries and it is a common enemy of both the countries, and a stable Afghanistan is in the best interest of both Iran and Pakistan.
He said there is a lot of scope in enhancing cooperation in economic and communication areas between the two countries. He said that Pakistan and Iran shall establish Fibre Optic link connecting each other.
Later Secretary Supreme National Security Council of Iran Admiral Ali Shamkhani, along with his delegation also called on Interior Minister Ch. Nisar Ali Khan in Islamabad.
Matters relating to Pak-Iran bilateral relation and mutual cooperation in the areas of security were discussed. They also discussed ways and means to further cement mutual cooperation for overcoming common challenges and promoting regional peace.
Ali Shamkhani expressed grief and sorrow over the loss of lives in earthquake and sympathized with the affected families. He said Iran stands by the affected people in this difficult time.
