BERLIN: German Deputy Development Minister Thomas Silberhorn, and Pakistan’s Secretary Economic Affairs Division Muhammed Saleem Sethi successfully concluded the biannual GER-PAK government negotiations on development cooperation on Friday with the signing of Rs11Billion funding for 2015-2016.
According to press statement issued here on Thursday, the two German implementing agencies GIZ and KfW Bank will use these funds to continue and scale up existing projects in governance, TVET, energy and health which are the focus areas of German cooperation.
While speaking Thomas Silberhorn said: “In our government to government negotiations we successfully committed 94 Mio. EUR new German funding for Pakistan. This reflects the close relationship between the two countries. Our longstanding friendship allows us to discuss about success stories such as reforms in taxes and revenue generation, but also about remaining challenges such as the current situation of International Non-Governmental Organizations in Pakistan.”
The delegation was headed by Secretary Economic Affairs Division Saleem Sethi, while Economic Affairs Division, Ministry of Water and Power and the Government of KP were also part of the delegation.
