ISLAMABAD: Governor Gilgit-Baltistan Mir Ghazanfar Ali Khan says work on the construction of Diamer Bhasha Dam project will start next year.
In an interview to state media, the Governor said acquisition of land for the dam is in progress and payment of land compensation to affected people would be completed shortly.
Referring to energy shortage in Gilgit-Baltistan, he said Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has approved 27 megawatt hydel power at Attabad Hunza which will help to reduce energy shortage in the area.
Governor said the region has great potential in tourism sector and government is focusing on its promotion.
