ISLAMABAD: A local court in Islamabad has granted one-day remand of 3 accused in Imran Farooq murder case, state media reported.
Three accused in the Dr Imran Farooq murder cause were presented in the Judicial Magistrate court in Islamabad on Sunday for seeking remand.
The accused Moazzam Ali, Khalid Shamim and Mohsin Ali Syed presented before the court amid tight security.
The Court granted one-day transit remand of all the three accused.
A day earlier, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain, along with Moazzam Ali, Khalid Shamim and Mohsin Ali Syed, booked in Imran Farooq murder case while Muhammad Anwar and Iftikhar Hussain were also nominated in the case.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has registered a case against MQM chief and senior leaders in Imran Farooq murder case. The case is booked under murder and anti-terrorism sections.
Following the lodging of the case, Pakistan has sought access to the accused and a formal request has been made to the British government in this regard.
Pakistan maintains in the request that the investigation material and access to the accused be provided to Pakistani investigators. The officials have also asked for permission to examine Farooq’s widow’s testimony as well.
