ISLAMABAD: National Electronic and Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) on Tuesday approved reduction in power tariff by Rs3.84 per unit under Fuel Adjustment Surcharge head.
The relief to the power consumers against this reduction in power tariff will be provided in the electricity bills for the month of January. The decrease in power tariff will not be applicable to life line consumers and K Electric.
Central Power Purchasers Agency had requested for reducing Rs2.65 in power tariff.
According to sources, Rs8.10 was fixed during the December month for the generation of power, however, Rs4.26 consumed for the generation of total power. Hence, NEPRA had approved for Rs3.83 in terms of fuel adjustment.
The tariff would be applied for the billing month of January on the consumers, however tariff would not be applied on K-Electric and lifeline consumers. Furthermore, the decision would not be applied on consumers using less 300 units.
Chairman NEPRA said that the consumers will be getting power relief after one month due to the delaying tactics of CPPA department.
