DUBAI: The announcement of the Pakistan Cricket Team Squad for the World T20 Championship and Asia Cup T20 Tournament is being delayed on the request of Shahid Afridi who wanted to see Ahmed Shehzad play few more innings in the PSL, a cricket website reported on Tuesday.

Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches are being played and the team was going to be made while considering performances in the tournament. Ahmed Shehzad had not done so well in the tour of New Zealand and has scored just one fifty in four matches of PSL.

There are chances that left-arm bowler Muhammad Nawaz will be picked in the team who has not earned a cap for International team yet but he has impressed for Pakistan A and now he has done very well with the ball and the bat for Quetta Gladiators in the PSL.

The selectors are also considering the spin friendly wickets of India and will try to have spinners who can bat as well. Immad Wasim and Muhammad Nawaz can do that job with experienced campaigners Shahid Afridi and Shoaib Malik to make batting and spin department strong.

The uncapped bowler Rumman Raees could also be named in the squad who has done well for Islamabad United in the PSL and has been very economical. Muhammad Rizwan and Sohaib Maqsood could also be dropped from the team after their average performances in last tour.
