ISLAMABAD: The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) has approved development projects worth over 218 billion rupees, says in media report. The meeting was chaired by Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal in Islamabad.

The projects are related to energy, water resources, transport and communication, housing, higher education, planning and development and reform sectors. The meeting recommended construction of motorway from Halka-Burhan on M-1 to D I Khan at over 129 billion rupees as part of the western route of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.   
The CDWP also approved installation of Ship Lift and Transfer System and associated machinery and equipment to provide docking and facilities to surface shops, submarines and commercial vessels at over nine billion rupees. Bridge across the River Indus connecting Larkana and Khairpur districts, approach road, and River Training Works at the cost of over 13 billion rupees were also approved.

In higher education, the CDWP approved strengthening of research and academic facilities at Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences Nilor. In energy sector, the party approved Golan Gol Hydro Power Project with a total cost of over 28 billion rupees.      The CDWP also approved and recommended to ECNEC 30.4 MW Jagran-I Hydro Power Project at the cost of 4.646 billion rupees.
