ISLAMABAD: National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Health Services on Monday unanimously approved the Transplantation of Human Organs amendment bill 2016 after prolong debate.

The meeting of the committee was held in parliament house with Khalid Hussain Magsi MNA in the chair.

Federal Secretary gave briefing about transplantation of human organs to the members of the committee and said that five bills in this regard were tabled and health ministry has completed its preprations.

“A joint meeting of National Health and Human Rights organizations was also convened in this regard. The members of the committee favored the joint meeting”, he added.

During the meeting, Zohar Wadood member of the committee protested and told that in a local hospital of Karachi, her son-in-law was injected wrong injection by the paramedical staff which caused his death and regretted that neither federal nor provincial government took any notice of his death adding that hospital administration has received millions of rupees even after his death.

The committee has expressed its concern over the death of minor due to consumption of polio drops.

On this, Khalid Magsi, chairman of the committee said that apparently it seems that death is the cause of polio vaccine but this matter is under consideration.

Federal Secretary Health told that committee that approximately 1.4 million children were administered polio drops in Karachi during the drive but no complaint was received in this regard.

The members of the parliament besides top officials of health ministry have announced to donate their organs.
