ISLAMABAD: Minister for Law and Justice Zahid Hamid on Monday presented "The Constitution (Twenty-eighth Amendment) Bill, 2017" in the NA for consideration.Speaking on the first reading of the bill, Mahmood Khan Achakzai of Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party opposed the bill conditionally while Shaikh Rashid Ahmad of Awami Muslim League, Syed Naveed Qamar of PPP supported the bill conditionally explaining that government should fulfill the commitments regarding fair trial, formation of national security committee and reforms in the judicial system.

The chair announced that after the discussion the process of voting on the bill will be held on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Law Zahid Hamid said that the government will fulfill the commitment of formation of Parliamentary Committee on National Security. Law Minister Zahid Hamid also presented before the House "The Pakistan Army (Amendment) Bill, 2017" for consideration.

The house was that no foreigner will be allowed to get Pakistani citizenship through forged documents. Minister for Interior Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan told the House during question hour that politics should not be done on the verification process of Computerized National Identity Cards. He said that  CNICs are mainly blocked in suspect, confirmed aliens and under verification categories.

To a question, Parliamentary Secretary for Planning and Development Ibadullah told the House that China is agreed to form a mechanism on the development of hydro projects along the North Indus River including the Diamer-Bhasha Hydropower project. He said both sides have agreed that preliminary work should be done as soon as possible on the development hydro projects. To another question, he said Keti Bunder Sea Port Development Project has been included in CPEC project.
