ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court has sought from federal government and Punjab and KP governments lists of those responsible for blasting and cutting of trees on Margalla hills .
SC three member bench led by Justice Azmat Saeed Sheikh took up suo motu notice case on deforestation and blasting at Margalla hills for hearing on Tuesday.
During the course of hearing Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed while addressing advocate general K-P remarked, is Bani gala in K-P? You care for violation of laws in Bani Gala but don’t care for Margalla Hills. All the three governments have become hostage to mafia. Have all the three governments obtained money from mafia for contesting polls.
He further remarked “blasting and cutting of trees at Margalla hills has proved. No one including federal government and Punjab and KP governments has taken action against those found responsible. The three governments should give reply that they are helpless and can not implement law. No government has taken action on the failure of the officials who were responsible for protection of Margalla hills.
Have all three governments taken money from mafia for contesting coming general elections? The three governments have become hostage before this mafia.
Court while seeking report from federal government, Punjab and KP government in respect of the officials found responsible for blasting and cutting of trees on Margalla hills has directed “ court should b e told what steps have been taken for protection of Margalla hills and what action has been taken against mafia and officials found negligent.
The court adjourned the hearing of the case for one week.
