ISLAMABAD: In the Federal Budget 2017-18, Rs.62 billion have been allocated for fast track development in Special Areas.

According to the budget documents, on the direction of the Prime Minister, the development funds for Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan have been increased from Rs.25.75 billion in FY 2016-17 to Rs.43.64 billion for the FY 2017-18 - which is a historic increase of 69%, and Rs.26.9 billion are being allocated for Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).
