ISLAMABAD: The investigation of the infamous Panama Papers case in Pakistan by the Joint Investigation Team JIT is entering the next stage, as the Qatari Prince has refused to come to Pakistan to record his statement before the Joint Investigation Team (JIT).
A six-member JIT, formed in line with Supreme Court’s April 20 verdict in the Panamagate case to probe Sharif family’s offshore properties, has received the letter writer by Qatri prince.
Sources said that in his letter Qatri prince affirmed his signature and letter presented before the court.
Qatri Prince was asked in the letter written by JIT to produce himself on May 25 before it and record his statement.
The Pakistani Embassy in Qatar delivered letter of the Joint Investigation Team to Qatari Prince Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber al Thani.
But the letter could not be received by the prince .Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber al Thani sent his reply on May 27 to JIT.
The probe body sent its second letter to the Qatari prince in a sealed envelope. “It was delivered on June 1rst ,” the sources added.
Qatri prince stated that “it was not necessary to appear before the JIT after the confirmation of the signature and the letter.”
It is vital to mention here that JIT has give three suggestion to the Qatri Prince included (1) he should appear before the court (2) or he should record his statement via video link (3) or two members of JIT will go to Qatri and record his statement.
Source said that the Qatri prince has turned down all suggestion given by the JIT.
It is worth mentioning here that JIT has recorded the statement of Hassan and Hussain Nawaz adding that Hussain Nawaz one time and Hussain Nawaz three times have appeared before the JIT.
