ISLAMABAD: Executive Committee of the National Economic Council has approved a project worth about 31.7 billion rupees for establishment of modern trade and transit facilities at border crossing points of Torkham, Chaman and Wagah.
Its meeting held in Islamabad on Friday was chaired by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar.
The Development of Integrated Transit Trade Management System would be completed with the assistance of Asian Development Bank that would provide 250 million dollar loan for the purpose.
Government of Pakistan is providing over 4.2 billion rupees for the scheme.
The Committee also approved the “Economic Transformation Initiatives in Gilgit-Baltistan” at a cost of 12.3 billion rupees.
ECNEC also approved “Punjab Police Integrated Command Control and Communication Program” with the total cost of 13.1 billion rupees.
It approved “Prime Minister’s Youth Training Scheme 2015-18 at a cost of about 23.6 billion rupees.
The meeting gave approval for land acquisition for China–Pakistan Economic Corridor, related KKH Improvement Project. Islamabad-Raikot Section (Phase-I) and Havelian-Thakot at the rationalized cost of 6.9 billion rupees.
