ISLAMABAD: Zafar Hijazi, the Chairman Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) was still holding his office despite of fact that FIR lodged against him in record tempering case.
The apex court has directed the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to register a case against Zafar Hijazi on the alleged tempering of the record submitted before JIT, but he done protection bail from Islamabad High Court (IHC). The sources have revealed that consultation was made in PM House regarding the temporary suspension of Zafar Hijazi from the post but he hadn’t removed from his slot so far.
Sources added that Zafar Hijazi has once again started create hurdles in SECP for FIA due to which FIA has to face many difficulties in achieving its target including provision of relevant record. “The period of protection bail of Chairman SECP is going to an end today Monday and he has to sought extension in his bail”, sources added.FIA sources said that it would submit all record about Zafar Hijazi in the court. The constitutional experts has expressed the hope that Chairman SECP would succeed to seek extension in protection bail.On the other hand parliamentary committee sought legal opinion on removal of Zafar Hijazi from the post of Chairman Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) after the registration of an FIR against him on the orders of Supreme Court.
