ISLAMABAD: Justice Dost Muhammad Khan has remarked why the judges of larger province work like police.

He further remarked “unfortunately the situation in our country is otherwise . Both of the judges of subordinate court have not seen the case in right perspective. Such pages are included in jail petitions which are not legible.

He gave these remarks while presiding over a 3-member bench of Supreme Court (SC)  during the course of hearing of a petition filed by accused  Ghulam Nabi seeking his acquittal from a murder case. .

The court admitted the petition for hearing and summoned the record.

Justice Dost Muhammad remarked “ jail authorities don’t discharge their obligation in respect of appeal pleas of the accused. Due relief is not provided as appeal pleas of the accused are not filed in time. The accused is in jail and his children too become culprits due to lack of supervision. Thousands of prisoners are lying in jail on the matter of payment of diyat”.

Ghulam Nabi was charged with murdering a man in Gujjar Khan in 2004.
