LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) has rejected the contempt of court petition filed against PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz and Federal Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal.

A petitioner Saddar u Deen had filed a petition in LHC while taking the plea that Maryam Nawaz and Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal are making  anti-judiciary speeches  during public meetings  which is tantamount to contempt of court therefore,  court should initiate contempt proceedings against them.

A single bench of LHC presided over by Justice Shahid Karim took up the petition for hearing on Tuesday.

The court inquired from petitioner, “Did Supreme Court take any notice of this matter?

On it the petitioner said SC didn’t take notice therefore he filed a petition in LHC.

The court further remarked when the apex court didn’t take any notice of the issue then how could LHC initiate any proceedings.
