ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Petroleum had neither recovered Rs 250 million from private company nor held responsible officers despite passing of 17 years time period. The secretary petroleum had also put the matter into cold storage.
As per details, Geological survey of Pakistan, a semi department of Ministry of Petroleum had signed an agreement with Quetta based private company Iqbal Enterprises to purchase 3-Rig two years before. This clause was included in the agreement that rig would be provided in time to ensure the timely completion of metal searching work on relevant sight.
Private company had received amount of Rs 248 million from Petroleum Ministry for the provision of required items but it could not provide the required items.
It has been decided to conduct the inquiry of this negligence at high level. The inquiry committee has also imposed penalty of Rs 28 million to company on not provision of required items in time. The amount of Rs 25 million could not be recovered so far despite passing two years of imposition of fine by the inquiry committee. The head of Geological Survey is being declared as responsible for not recovering the said amount i.e Rs 25 million who financially benefitted the company. The matter was tabled before Secretary Petroleum but owing to influence of private company the case was put under the carpet. The officials of Petroleum Ministry were attempting to suppress the case as minister of state for Petroleum belongs to Balochistan.
