ISLAMABAD: General (R) Muhammad Zubair Director of Neelam Jhelum project on Tuesday said that over 73 percent work on hydro project has been completed which would be operational by 2017.
“Neelum Jhelum hydro power plant is a most significant assignment and being constructed at the hefty cost of 414 billion”, he said while talking to ‘Online’.
He further said that transformer hall has been completed over 82 pc and will be comprised of 13 transformers but for now six of them are at working place and would be installed in the month of October.
One hydraulic gate has been installed on dam while rest of other two gates will be set up by October to December this year.
Over 13 km concrete line out of 24 km has been furnished and Tunnel boring machine replaced at the worth of US $ 697 million as work on tunnel was halted after disaster but the progress getting momentum after replacing new boring machine, he added.
Around 1388 engineers mostly are foreigners are working on project and at that time total expenditures of project is Rs.168 billion while US $20 and US $576 billion debt will be given by National Bank and China Exim Bank respectively in the upcoming two months to complete the project till 2017.
