ISLAMABAD: US Secretary of States Rex Tillerson will visit to Pakistan next week.

Foreign Office sources said that Tillerson’s during his visit will discuss bilateral relation, Afghanistan, Indo-Pak relations and other regional and international affairs with Pakistan.

Tillerson will also visit India, Afghanistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and other Asian states during his long itinerary to the continent.    

Sources further said that Tillerson during his Pakistan visit will met with Prime Minister Khaqan Abbasi, his Pakistani counterpart Khawaja Asif and other political and military leadership of the country.

After the announcement of President Trump’s policy towards Afghanistan and the region, relations between two countries badly damaged. But, after the meeting of PM Abbasi and vice President of US, Mike Pence on the sidelines of UN General Assembly annual session last month , it was decided to continue engagements between two countries. FM Khawaja’s visited US in the first week of the current month.

US delegation led by Deputy Assistant to the President and National Security Council Senior Director for South Asia,  Lisa Curtis visited Islamabad on 12 October. The US delegation included Acting Assistant Secretary of State, Ambassador Alice Wells, and other senior officials. Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua led the Pakistani side which included senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other relevant departments. The two sides agreed to continue bilateral engagements at all levels.

Pakistan Army in an operation rescue American-Canadian couple Caitlan Coleman and Joshua Boyle along their three children, from the captivity of Taliban faction. President Trump, praised Pakistan on the rescue of the couple.
