SKARDU: The Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said people in next general elections would support PML(N) on the basis of performance .
He said this, while addressing the inaugural ceremony of Baltistan University here on Wednesday.
“China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was a project object to bring about a sea change in country’s economy adding that it not only provides road connectivity but would also provide opportunities for local communities to flourish”, he added.
He said that it credit goes to incumbent government of PML-N that it had initiated mega development projects of country’s history during its tenure and completed them in time.
PM Abbasi said that democracy in the country was flourishing and now the second democratic government was in power and serving the people.
Earlier, Executive Director (ED) Higher Education Commission (HEC) in his briefing told PM approximately 2 thousand students would get higher education in the Baltistan University. Karakum University campus has been upgraded as Baltistan University.
He said that special departments would be setup in the university to utilize the local sources. Special departments may include water resources and tourism. Faculty development would be focused in the university. Youths especially women would be able to get higher education through the establishment of this university.
“PM had issued special directive for the establishment of Baltistan University. GB government has allotted some 1500 kanal land for this purpose. Approximately Rs 1.77 billion would be spent on this project”, he added and maintained that HEC is working on some eight projects worth Rs 1.75 billion and funds of Rs 1.15 billion have been released for these projects.
He said that campuses of Baltistan University would be set up in almost 10 districts of Gilgit Baltistan. In March, 2018 a sub-campus of Karakum University would be set up in Ghadar and Chilas adding that a Medical College would also be established under Karakum University.
