Victory in Pakistan’s re-election to UNHRC an outcome of coordinated efforts: FM

ISLAMABAD, October 14 (Online): Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said Pakistan’s re-election to the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) was an outcome of a coordinated effort as Pakistan has earned support from every region.
“ I congratulate over Pakistan being re-elected to the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC). It was a coherent effort. Pakistan has won support from every region”, he said this while talking to media men here Wednesday.

He underlined that very big and influential countries supported Pakistan. Prime Minister also wrote letters. Our government has endeavored to bring betterment in the country.
The Foreign Minister said this vote also shows Pakistan’s performance in the human rights council over the last three years. He said the world today is recognizing Pakistan’s role.

Citing to Kashmir issue FM said he is concerned over the situation in Jammu and Kashmir. Efforts are being made to gag the voice of Kashmiris. “We will highlight Kashmir issue in the meeting of Human Rights Council”, he added.

This forum is very important for highlighting Indian policies and its brutalities in Occupied Kashmir in other countries, he remarked.

He held “ we want to give clear message to Kashmiirs that we stand with them at diplomatic, moral and all levels.

He announced Muslim cause and protection of human rights will be priority of Pakistan.
This is the fifth time Pakistan has been elected to the Council — the first success came in 2006 when the Council was created by the UN General Assembly. Pakistan polled 169 votes, when 97 were needed.
