Pakistani engineer wins “Energy Innovator” award in Middle East

Lahore October 19 (Online): A Pakistani engineer Saqib Sajjad has won the Energy Innovator of the Year 2020 International Award.
The award was given by the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE).
Associate Dr Fozia Sajjad, sister of Sajjad, said that Saqib Sajjad won the AEE Energy Engineer of the Year award for the Middle East Region in 2016, the IEP National Excellence Award in 2017 and the best paper award at the SOGAT Conference in 2019.
With Masters in Chemical Engineering and MBA, he is also a Chartered Engineer from UK, Certified Energy Manager (CEM) and Certified Measurement and Verification Professional (CMVP) from AEE USA.
It is mentionable that the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE), founded in 1977, is a nonprofit professional society of over 18,000 members in more than 100 countries, recognizes individuals and organizations who have achieved prominence in the energy industry.
The Energy Innovator of the Year International Award is presented to an individual for outstanding achievement and innovation in promoting the adoption of renewable, green, or other innovative energy technologies.
Dr Fozia said that Saqib Sajjad was presented the award for introducing numerous novel, innovative and creative initiatives. He proposed and demonstrated viability of utility scale solar CSP integration with the thermal energy network of Oil & Gas Industry and also underlined the vital role of large scale renewable in energy intensive ultra-sour gas processing.
His proposition to remove power block from Solar CSP indicated significant reduction in CAPEX and thermal efficiency improvement, resulting in lower unit cost of renewable energy. He conceptualized and developed methodology for process units benchmarking, which identified substantial energy and monetary savings.
Saqib Sajjad introduced integrated model based concept of assured energy optimization in projects resulting in considerable OPEX and CAPEX reduction. Saqib Sajjad is leading the energy efficiency drive at the ADNOC Gas Processing, Abu Dhabi based ADNOC Group Company, one of the largest gas processing companies in the world.
He led numerous studies & initiatives and contributed in energy efficiency improvement at the operating facilities as well as in the projects. Saqib Sajjad played a major role in developing energy policy & strategy, in initiating energy performance benchmarking and in developing energy competencies.
Saqib Sajjad is actively working on Waste Heat Recovery, integration of renewable energy in the Oil & Gas Industry and on dynamic energy use cases as part of the ADNOC digitalization drive.
He has also supported energy efficiency in R&D. She added that my brother is a prolific writer and a speaker, consistently advocating renewable and energy efficiency.
He has twenty-five conference papers and publications (22 in just last four years), presented at international forums.
