Calling BAP senators as gift to Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani plunges Senate into uproar
ISLAMABAD, April 05 (Online): Calling BAP senators as gift by PML-N senator Azam Nazir Tarar has triggered uproar in Senate.
Speaking in the house, PML-N Azam Tarar said f gifts were sent to get elect opposition leader. Our hears are sad over the appointment of opposition leader in the senate. We should be allotted opposition benches separately.
He demanded the probe into installation of secret cameras in senate polls.
The senators who supported Yousuf Raza Gillani voiced protest over Azam Tarar remarks.
The treasury benches raised hue and cry over calling the BNP senators as gift.
Senator Azam Tarar said 27 senators of 5 parties have formed separate opposition group, therefore, a separate opposition bench be allotted to them.
Dilawar Khan group which supported Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani also demanded separate benches.
Opposition leader in Senate Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani read out Ahmad Faraz Ghazal in senate saying “ Yousuf Na The magar sare bazaar aa gaye. Khushfahmian ye then keh kharidar aa gaye. Ab key muqable pe mere yar aa gaye. Sooraj ke roshni pey jinhen naz tha Faraz who bhi to Zere saya deewar aa gayer.
Gillani said the objective of coming here is to represent the people. I have been elected with the help of PDM. If any difficulty arises then we will speak from government side too. Affording relief to people is obligation of all of us. We will have to go side by side to discharge this obligation.
Had Senate come to being earlier then incident like Dhaka fall would not have happened, he remarked.
PPP senator Raza Rabbani constitution amendment bill-2021 presented in the senate. This bill was referred to respective committee.
He said Senate powers are less than National Assembly. The powers of both the houses should be equal. Chief minister of the province should be allowed to speak in the Senate.
