Vaccination process for people above 40 starts in the country: Dr Faisal Sultan

ISLAMABAD, May 03 (Online): Dr Faisal Sultan, Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on health has said Corona vaccination process for the people above 40 years has been started in the country as its registration was started in the last week.

In his media briefing he said Monday government had commenced talks with Gavi last year when no vaccine was made.

He told the media men that ECC had approved 150 million dollars on November 30 and cabinet had approved them on December 01. At that no vaccine was approved in the world too.

He stated that 2.5 million people have been vaccinated so far. By the end of June this year we will get 19 million doses of vaccine. 90 percent doses will be procured by way of purchasing.

We are not only relying on donations, he said adding government has signed agreements for procurement of 30 million doses of vaccine so far.

Near 100 million people are able for vaccination in the country and the remaining are below 18 years, he pointed out. Most of the vaccines are registered for people above 18 years.

Vaccinating 3 lac people daily is our target while we want to vaccinate 70 million people this year, he underlined.
