Ishaq Dar’s disqualification as a senator case, notice to Election Commission
The Lahore High Court has issued a notice to the Election Commission of Pakistan on a citizen’s petition for the disqualification of PML-N leader Ishaq Dar as a senator.
In the Lahore High Court, a hearing was held on the citizen’s petition for the disqualification of Ishaq Dar as a senator.
The court also issued a notice to the Attorney General of Pakistan for assistance.
The petitioner’s lawyer objected to the issuance of a notice to the Attorney General of Pakistan and said that the federal government has not been made a party, the Election Commission is an independent body.
During the hearing, the lawyer of the petitioner took the position that the reference of Ishaq Dar’s disqualification was sent to the Chairman Senate, the Chairman Senate did not take a decision within a month, so the matter went to the Election Commission.
The petitioner further said that the Election Commission is not deciding on the reference regarding the disqualification of Ishaq Dar, every time the hearing is adjourned on a date.
The court issued a notice to the Election Commission of Pakistan for disqualifying Ishaq Darki as a senator.
