Lahore High Court (LHC) has sought reply from Punjab government within a week on the petition filed by Tahir Ashrafi against his removal from the post of chairman Muttahidda Ulema Board (MUB) .
The court rejected Tahir Ashrafi plea for granting immediate stay order against Punjab government order.
The counsel for the petitioner Tahir Ashrafi told the court during the hearing of the case there is no room in law for removing chairman MUB from his office before completion of his term . It is not mentioned in the notification of new appointment under what law this change has been made.
The court directed counsel for Punjab government should tell till next week under what law this appointment is made.
Tahir Ashrafi has made Punjab government, chief secretary, Auqaf Department and Hamid Raza respondents in his petition.
Tahir Ashrafi has taken the plea in the petition that he was again appointed as chairman MUB Punjab for three years on March 31, 2022.
