Supreme Court (SC) has sought reply from Sindh government on relief activities for flood affectees.

A 3-member bench of SC presided over by the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial took up the case for hearing Thursday.

The CJP remarked “ flood is not matter of administrative power but it is issue of basic rights of the people. Sindh government had issued orders for public interest. Court will not interfere in relief activities. Sindh government will have to satisfy the court that work is being done in the interest of people.

Advocate General Sindh told the court citizens committees have been established to monitor the relief activities. One week time be given to file reply.

Faisal Siddiqui counsel for flood victims took the plea one week time is being sought in this era of technology. People are dying in flood hit areas.

The court while summoning details of relief activities from Sindh government and seeking reply from PDMA and District Disaster Management Authority adjourned the hearing of the case till October 20.
