Punjab, federal govt face to face on wheat issue


Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Chaudhry Pervez Elahi has sent a letter to Prime Minister (PM) Shahbaz Sharif on the matter of shortage of wheat in the province.

CM Punjab has demanded of federal government to provide 10 lac tones wheat for Punjab. Request has been made to supply 3 lac metric tones wheat forthwith to Punjab.

The letter said directives be issued to ministry of national food security and PASCO the remaining wheat be provided in phases. Immediate steps be taken for supply of wheat to Punjab.

On the other hand former federal minister Moonis Elahi has confirmed about writing of letter to federal government on the matter of wheat.

Moonis Elahi said federal government under the leadership of PM Shahbaz Sharif is doing injustice to people of Punjab. Federal government has refused to provide us our share and it is not according permission to us to import wheat.

Moonis Elahi held Punjab is facing wheat crisis. It is hoped federation will realize the matter in better way due to CM Punjab letter.

Punjab government have already written first letter on June 18, second letter on September 19 and third letter on October 4 to respective institutions.
