CDA de-seals Centaurus Mall after protest


Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Tuesday decided to de-seal Centaurus Mall – skyscraper mall located at the junction of Jinnah and Faisal Avenues in the capital’s F-8 sector.

In a statement, CDA said that this decision has been taken keeping in mind the difficulties of traders.
“Centaurus Mall will be de sealed soon,” the authority said, adding that the section come under “building violation” would remain closed.

The development comes after the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Islamabad-based business organizations termed the government’s decision as “political revenge”.

The CDA sealed the premises on Monday night, with the authority’s notice reading: “The premises have been sealed due to non-conforming use as ordered by the Director Building Control City, CDA.”
Worth mentioning here that the verbal altercation took place during the inauguration ceremony of the renovation project of Units 5 and 6 of the Mangala Dam Hydroelectric Power Plant on the Jhelum River in Mangala region of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

On Tuesday, PTI Chairman Imran Khan condemned the federal government’s move, terming it as political revenge.Imran tweeted that the sealing of Centaur Mall in response to PDM mafia not mentioning the sacrifices of Kashmiris by Azad Kashmir Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif shows that Pakistan has been the law of the jungle for the last 8 months.
