A man is missing since the last five years and you know nothing: IHC asks SP Investigation


ISLAMABAD, Oct 22 (Online): Chief Justice (CJ) Islamabad High Court (IHC) Athar Minallah has sought detailed report from the inquiry officer on the petition seeking recovery of a citizen Imran Khan who is missing since the last five years.

IHC CJ Athar Minallah took up the case for hearing Thursday.

Deputy Attorney General (DAG) Syed Tayyab Shah appeared in the court.

CJ IHC remarked `Security agencies say they have no information about it while commission is calling it enforced disappearance.

DAG said commission recommendations are not final.

SP Investigation Malik Naeem said commission meeting will take place on November 3 and 4. This case will also be seen in the meeting.

The court while expressing displeasure remarked commission is commission. Powers and duty are yours. You are showing negligence. A man is missing since the last five years and nothing is known to you about it.

Inam Ur Rahim counsel for the petitioner said Imran was doing job abroad. He went missing when he came here to attend a marriage party.

The law officer said Visits of missing Imran Khan are there in Afghanistan and Jehadi outfits.

The court remarked the powers rest with the investigation officer. He should go and obtain statement from any one he wills. He should see report and tell us.

The counsel for the petitioner said if the report of missing persons commission is summoned then all the situation will become clear.

CJ IHC remarked “you don’t want investigation officer should be strong who wields powers. The courts don’t interfere in the work of investigation officer so that he may do work in better way.
JIT has given statement to commission this is enforced disappearance case.

DAG prayed the court to give more time to him.

The court while accepting his plea directed law enforcement agencies to recover the missing person.

The court adjourned the hearing of the case till November 16.
