Govt-opposition come face to face on matter of default in Senate committee

ISLAMABAD: Government and opposition came face to face on the matter of default in Senate standing committee for finance on Thursday.

Committee met here under senator Salim Mandiwala.

Malakand Chamber of commerce told that state minister for finance had promised to meet them but meeting could not take place.

Malakand chamber contacted state minister but time was not given.

Chairman committee said state minister himself had stated that the matter will be resolved by holding a meeting. Officers of finance ministry should now arrange meeting.

Senator Anwar ul Haq said chairman FBR should also be there in the meeting.
Pakistan Pharmaceutical Association told the committee if government does not address the problems then the industry will stand shut next month. The exports of the industry will become zero next month and workers jobless. We import 95 percent raw material. The problems will aggravate if the patients don’t get the medicines. Letters of credit of pharmaceutical industry are not being opended.

PPMA said the finance minister sands embroiled in political matter and the problems facing the industries are not being resolved.

Governor state bank said give us list and we will open LCs on priority basis.
State minister for fiancé Ayesha Ghous Pasha said while talking to media men the government will have to take difficult decisions at the behest of IMF. She held IMF is inevitable for revival of national economy. Government wants IMF program is restored soon.
