PDM’s Multan rally maltreated, arrests unjustified: FM Qureshi


ISLAMABAD, December 1 (Online): Foreign Minister (FM) Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that the provincial government maltreated the PDM’s Multan rally and in his opinion, there was no justification to the arrests of PDM members.
The Foreign Minister while talking to a private news channel said that the Qasim Bagh rally should not have been hampered, if the opposition had been allowed to hold the rally inside Qasim Bagh, they would have been exposed as Imran Khan attracted a crowd of several thousands in the ground.
Shah Mehmood said that what difference did the Gujranwala rally make? “In my view, there was no need for the government to react so strongly”, he indicated.
He said that let the opposition hold their rallies, the people will decide for themselves. The Punjab government should reconsider its decisions, I will share my views with the political leadership, he added.
FM Qureshi said that the coronavirus situation in the country is critical with about 40 people are dying from the virus each day. The opposition has been asked to postpone their rallies for some time, he apprised.
He said that the opposition is creating a sense of chaos in the country. Whereas, our economy is recovering, but the opposition is endangering the lives of the people, he criticized.
