PM orders probe into chopping of trees in Diamir, Gilgit


ISLAMABAD, Dec 04 (Online): Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan has taken notice of chopping of trees in Diamir and Gilgit.
PM has contacted Malik Amin Aslam, Special Assistant , ordered to hold inquiry into this matter and submit report thereof to him.
The PM has directed all the teams set up against the timber mafia to remain vigilant 24 hours.
Decision has been taken to promulgate ordinance of harsh punishment against timber mafia in Gilgit and Baltistan.
Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) Malik Amin Aslam has said amnesty culture will be eliminated once for all through ordinance. Exemplary punishment will be awarded to the elements found involved in illegal chopping of trees.
Under the directives of PM, 4 platoons of armed FC personnel have been provided to Gilgit Forest administration. Armed FC jawans have been deployed for discouraging the timber mafia.
