ISLAMABAD, December 7 (Online): National Voters Day was observed nationwide on Monday, under the auspices of Election Commission of Pakistan, to create awareness about importance of registration as voters.
The main event in this regard has been held in Islamabad, where Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja will address a ceremony. Ceremonies will also be held at Provincial Offices of the Election Commission in connection with the day.
The National Voters’ Day is being celebrated in commemoration of first general elections of Pakistan held on 7th December, 1970.
The primary purpose of commemorating the day is to create awareness among general public about the importance of vote and inclusion of all segments of the society in electoral process.
