Govt drops electricity bombshell on people


ISLAMABAD, Dec 14 (Online): Government has dropped electricity bombshell on the people by scaling up power tariff Rs 1.11 per unit.

Tariff has been raised for one month by NEPRA under the head of fuel adjustment surcharge.

NEPRA has said the cost of production of electricity was Rs 3.95 per unit in the month of September. The anticipated cost of production of power per unit was Rs 2.84 per unit.

This decision will shift burden of over Rs 12 billion to consumers.

NEPRA has further said the recovery of additional amount will be made from the consumers through electricitys bill for the month of December.

This decision will not be applicable to consumers of K Electric.
