IHC dismisses petition seeking probe into revelation made by Henry Kissenger on 1971 incident

ISLAMABAD, DEC 15 (ONLINE): Islamabad High Court (IHC) has dismissed the petition seeking investigation into disclosures made by former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger about 1971 incident declaring it non maintainable.

The counsel for the petitioner told the court application was sent to Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan for probing into the matter but no action was taken.

The Chief Justice (CJ) IHC Athar Minallah remarked “ neither security nor stability of our country is so weak that a book can make a difference.

The court inquired from the petitioner “have you read Hamood ur Rehman Commission report. Read it first. Parliament has to see these political statements. Go and whosoever is elected representative of your constituency can present it before the parliament. Such petitions don’t fall in the jurisdiction of the court.

One Malik Mushtaq Ahmad, had filed petition in high court taking the plea that Henry Kissenger had said Yahya Khan had assured to give independence to Bangladesh . The court should constitute commission to investigate these controversial matters.

The court dismissed the petition declaring it non maintainable.
