CJ IHC stops subordinate courts from issuing verbal arrest orders


ISLAMABAD, Dec 16 (Online): Chief Justice (CJ) Islamabad High Court (IHC) Athar Minallah has stopped the subordinate courts from issuing verbal arrest orders.
It has been said in the orders issued to subordinate courts by member inspection team under the directives of CJ IHC that no one should be got arrested from court room under verbal orders. Arrests on verbal orders run contrary to the set court’s traditions.

While sending the directives to district and sessions judges Islamabad East and West it was also directed that they should inform their subordinate judges in this regard. The directives issued by the competent authority be adhered to in letter and spirit.

It may be mentioned that Waqar ud Din Gondal civil judge Islamabad had got arrested court reporter from court’s room through verbal orders. This matter was brought by Islamabad HIGH Court journalists association to CJ IHC Athar Minallah.
