Strong, democratic Pakistan in US interests: Vedant
WASHINGTON, MAY 12 (ONLINE): US State Department spokesman Vedant Patel said a strong democratic Pakistan is in the interest of US.

“We want to see democratic norms and principles are upheld and law is respected in Pakistan.
He remarked talks are underway with Pakistan on several matters. The United States does not have a favoured candidate or a favoured political party in Pakistan. We demand respect of democratic norms and rule of law in the entire world.

US Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Bob Menendez has said we are keeping eye on ongoing embarrassing situation in Pakistan. We support the efforts aimed at ending tension.
Calling for immediate restoration of internet services for people he said shutting internet suppresses the liberties of people of Pakistan including access to information to alarming extent.
