Aarifa Siddiqui repatriation case: cruelties are being petrated with Aarfa Siddiqui and government is silent: Defence counsel

ISLAMABAD, Jan 11 (Online): Islamabad High Court (IHC) has declared unsatisfactory government report in the case of Arifa Siddiqui repatriation from US.

A single bench of IHC presided over by Justice Amir Farooq took up the petition for hearing Monday.

Deputy Attorney General (DAG) presented a report in the court on behalf of Foreign ministry.

The court inquired during the hearing of the csae government of Pakistan has done what so far in seeking release of Dr Arifa Siddiqui. Show us documentary proofs. The state cannot be absolved of its responsibilities. A secretary level officer from foreing office should apepar and tell us what has been done so far.; We will not wrap up the case merely on your statement. This case has been fixed after four years but still no report is availabel here. How can foreign office be non serious on this matter.

DAG Raja Khalid Mehmood requested the court “ let me read two paragraphs of report.

The court remarked “ the reprot has no validity without documents. You have not filed this report formally. File the report in registrar office with documents.

The court directed the foreign joint secretary of foreign office to appear personally on February 10.

Dr Fouzia Siddiqui, sister of Dr Afia Siddiqui appeared before the court along with her counsel.

The defence counsel told the court cruelties are being perpetrated on Dr Aafia Siddiqui and the government is silent.

The hearing of the case was adjourned till February 10.
