ISLAMABAD, Jan 20 (Online): Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad has said border management wing has been set up in interior ministry and government is taking comprehensive steps to curb human trafficking and illegal transportation of goods..
He said this while talking to Australian High Commissioner (HC) who called on him here Wednesday.
A set of issues including bilateral relations between Pakistan and Australia, matters of mutual interest, moves for improving border management and improvement in professional capability of law enforcement agencies came under discussion during the meeting.
Sheikh Rashid said during the meeting Pakistan is launching e-passport from May 01. E-passport will largely help curb human trafficking. E-VISA has already been launched. We are providing online visa to the citizens in the country. Most of the applications are being received from Afghanistan.
Australian HC said on the occasion need is there that cooperation between Pakistan and Australia be further bolstered for curbing international crimes. We will provide technical assistance to Pakistan to improve border management.
The way Pakistan has contained corona virus is highly laudable, he added.
