Educational institutions closed in different cities for two weeks due to upswing in corona cases


ISLAMABAD, March 10 (Online): Government has announced to close educational institutions for two weeks in different cities owing to upswing in corona cases.

Dr Faisal Sultan, Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) in joint press conference with the education minister Shafqat Mehmood after the meeting of National Command and Operation Centre has said corona is spreading in the country.

The spread of corona virus increases pressure on hospitals more. The corona ratio has scaled up during the last week in the country, he added. The citizens should wear mask outside their homes at every cost.

Dr Faisal Sultan said the policy for performing their duties by 50 percent employees at their homes will continue due to spread of corona virus. The recreational sites will be closed till 6 p,m.

He underlined that the marriage halls and cinemas cannot be opened in the prevailing situation. The decision for opening cinemas from March 15 has been withdrawn. Restrictions on dining inside hotels will remain in place. The policy regarding marriage hall will remain in place.

He stated that the ban on continuing trade activities after 10 p,m has been imposed with immediate effect.

Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood said the situation in Sindh and Balochistan is better while problems have been seen in Punjab, KP and Azad Kashmir. 50 percent children will come to schools in Sindh and Balochistan.

He held that educational institutions have been closed for two weeks from March 15 in Islamabad, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Lahore, Gujrat, Multan, Rawalpindi, Sialkot and Peshawar. All the educational institutions will reopen on March 28. The examination which are underway in certain educational institutions will continue.
