SC allows to shift Ahmad Omar Saeed Sheikh to Kot Lakhpat jail in Daniel Pear murder case


ISLAMABAD, March 25 (Online): Supreme Court (SC) has allowed to shift Ahmad Omar Saeed Sheikh, prime accused in Danial Pearl murder case to Punjab Kot Lakhpat jail.

A 3-member bench of SC presided over by Justice Umar Ata Bandial took up the case for hearing Thursday.

Additional Advocate General (AAG) Punjab Faisal Chaudhry told the court Omar Sheikh has made request for shifting him to Punjab being his family in Punjab. Decision has been taken to keep Ahmad Omar Sheikh in Jail employees colony. If he is kept outside then arrangements for police and Rangers will have to be made.

Counsel for Ahmad Omar argued that jail limits are jail , therefore, it will be difficult to come therein and go outside. Adil Sheikh is sick and he needs treatment.

Justice Umar Ata Bandial remarked Punjab government should provide facilities to these people by implementing court’s orders. The court is not satisfied over keeping these people detained persistently after their release.

Justice Sajjad Ali Shah remarked if Ahmad Omar has to be kept in jail then why time is being sought. Tell us when Ahmad Omar will be shifted to Punjab.

Attorney General assured the court that Ahmad Omar will be shifted within a week.

The court directed to provide all medical treatment facilities to Ahmad Omar .

The court while summoning implementation of its orders reports from federal and provincial governments in chamber adjourned the hearing of the case for two weeks.
