SC orders forensic audit of matters related to pending cases of SNG

ISLAMABAD, March 29 (Online): Supreme Court (SC) has ordered to conduct forensic audit of all the matters related to all pending cases of Sui Northern (SN) besides directing the secretary energy to present audit report within two months in the court.

The court has adjourned the hearing of the case for two months.
The court also suspended the high court order on reinstatement of dismissed meter reader. The court gave this order during the course of hearing of the case of reinstatement of Sui Northern Gas (SNG) employees.

A two members bench of SC presided over by the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Gulzar Ahmad took up the case for hearing Monday.

The CJP expressed displeasure with Managing Director SNG, Lawyers and legal team for not pursuing the pending cases and appearing in the courts without preparations.

The CJP remarked SNG has no interest in its pending cases in the court. The lawyers of SNG don’t appear in the courts. When MD SNG appeared in the court he had no knowledge about the cases. MD SNG did not bother to ascertain the facts before appearing in the court.

Addressing the counsel for SNG, the CJP remarked we cancel your license. You should quit court room No 1. The case was filed in 2018 and you went away after filing the case. There are three lawyers they received the money and they did not appear in the court. Had we not passed order the case would have been ended in the previous hearing. Had court not issued order, you would have recruited 500 persons. You all have forged nexus with each other.

Addressing the MD SNG , the CJP remarked your lawyers and legal team all are idle. Non pursuing the cases is causing loss to the tune of millions of rupees. SNG will become penniless by paying continuously fee of the lawyers.
MD Sui gas Ali Hamdani told the court I have just been appointed a few days before.

CJP remarked it is your responsibility even if you have joined five minutes before. The state is suffering.

Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan remarked the public money is being wasted recklessly. Sui Northern legal team already comprises 12 persons. Fees are being paid to 3 lawyers even in the presence of legal team.

The secretary energy assured the court he will direct Sui Northern board to investigate the matter. We will present report in the court after investigating the matter.
