SC issues contempt of court notice to registrar IHC

ISLAMABAD, April 13 (Online): Supreme Court (SC) has issued contempt of court notice to registrar Islamabad High Court (IHC) in the case pertaining to vacation of F-8 Kutchery football ground and demolition of chambers illegally constructed by the lawyers therein besides seeking reply from him within 7 days.

A 2-member bench of SC presided over by the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Gulzar Ahmad took up for hearing review petition against court’s decision on vacation of F-8 Kutchery football ground and demolition of lawyers illegal chambers Tuesday. Review petition was filed by Islamabad District Bar Association.

Additional Attorney General (AAG) told the court during the hearing of the case that registrar has filed reply regarding demolition of chambers of the lawyers. The illegal constructions of the courts in F-8 kutchery have been demolished.

The CJP while expressing annoyance over non implementation of orders for demolition of illegal lawyers chambers and courts in F-8 district courts remarked registrar IHC did not care for SC decision. With the efforts of SC the structure erected at illegal places in Islamabad kutchery was demolished. IHC registrar did nothing in this regard. IHC registrar did not take the orders of SC seriously. The registrar IHC left the implementation of the SC orders at junior officers. Registrar failed in implementing SC decision. As to why registrar high court should not be suspended. If the registrar is convicted and punished in contempt of court case then he will stand disqualified and will go home. He is mentally upset. Registrar IHC should give reply to contempt of court notice within seven days.

The court while adjourning the hearing of the case for seven days has issued contempt of court notice to the registrar IHC.

The court has summoned reply from the registrar IHC till next hearing of the case.
